As a marketplace, Chaiz offers a wide array of vehicle service contracts depending on the state, age of the car, and make and model. However, some restrictions still apply, either because providers are unable to cover very old vehicles or due to regulatory restrictions.
Vehicle
- Max age is 20 years. For very few models, there are plans available for up to 25 years of age
- Max mileage is 200k miles. Again, for some models, this goes up to 250k miles.
- Salvage title is generally a no-go, but it can be added as an add-on to some plans. (generally out of scope for integrations)
States
Due to regulatory restrictions, Chaiz offers coverage in all states excluding California.
All states except FL, MA, MO, and WA have good to great coverage, meaning at least plans from 3 different providers will be available. However, only one or two providers are available for FL, MA, MO, and WA, as these states have enacted policies that deter many providers.
EV and Hybrid
There are many offerings for EV and hybrid cars. However, two things need to be considered:
- [Coming soon] Most plans don't cover the battery for EVS. To get the battery cover, the customer must purchase an additional vehicle service contract from “battery4Life” to be covered.
- For Hybrids, most plans offer a Hybrid add-on that will cover Hybrid parts
Search by make and model
- Ensure that the make and model names match the chaiz make/model list; otherwise, they will not be recognized and cannot be parsed. e.g. BMW 3-SERIES does NOT work
- It is your responsibility to ensure that the make and model match correctly.
Search by VIN
- You have to ensure a valid VIN is provided. Chaiz is not responsible for correcting the provided VIN.
Further considerations
It is possible to see a plan for a specific make/model, but then, when providing the VIN, the customer will no longer see an offer. This can happen because the car's trim might be very special or exotic, or add components that are not covered.
